Sawubona Oils is a South African essential oils startup that needed to break into American markets, even before they had their products in hand from overseas.
With an impossible deadline and a saturated market, we conceptualized and executed a go to market plan that launched this distribution company and established them as a key player in the EO industry.
I worked with the small team of Sawubona to research, strategize, and execute a launch for their business that ultimately resulted in a successful start to their thriving essential oils company. Along with the GTM strategy, I created a plan for sustainability for their business as well as options on how to leverage the market to scale their operations with their product offerings and their locations.
Sawubona Oils was fully equipped to enter the market and with the list of potential customers, was able to forge strong partnerships right out of the gate that helped them sell their initial shipment of essential oils within just a few months. Sawubona Oils is on their way to becoming a huge player in the EO distribution industry!
FEEDBACK
"Amy Crowson is a passionate, dedicated individual. She is creative and relentless in achieving excellence for her customers.
When posed with an insurmountable challenge – help our company go from an idea to a fully formed, branded, kitted out, market-facing business – she did it! Amy led the team in researching critical aspects of our industry – essential oils. The team was able to pour through huge data sets and a vast array of information to synthesize critical learnings for our company that have led to actionable insights.
Amy completely owned the entire design process – from logo to website – the Sawubona Essential Oils brand is Amy’s creation. She heard our voice, captured our intended tone, and applied it to a beautiful, easy-to-use website. We asked her for a simple start, and she delivered far more than we asked.
During our time together, Amy was fearless, asking important clarifying questions to position our business with the market strategy that we were aiming for, and challenging us on potential blind spots or unrealized opportunities. She was also bold in reaching out to the marketplace to tastefully and tactfully get insight from our potential customers or even our competitors. Her efforts in that arena even led to one of our hottest sales opportunities.
If you are looking to add a “go-getter” to your team who can do it all herself or lead an entire team, then Amy is the right person for you.
P.S. She also has a really big heart. All of this wonderful hard work that I described above was done for FREE, out of the goodness of her heart. And while you might think that I am biased because of her generosity, I have worked with many marketing teams and designers/developers in the charitable work I oversee. So this is my objective opinion – Amy is good at what she does and she cares deeply. Good people do good work."
